Wendy Hickok Photography bio picture

The Dimpled Photographer

"I'm not sure if I picked up the camera or the camera picked up me. Photography is a dream come true. The ability to be an artist and have a career couldn't be a more fabulous combination. I live every day with the intention of perfection. I shoot every picture with a smile and the desire to make my clients happy. I always knew that my inability to focus on one thing would be my greatest asset. The details, the moments, and the people in the world around me are my focus."

Snow Modeling!

My friend Tracy and I had lunch today right when the snow started! We had an impromptu modeling session and I am so lucky to have such a gorgeous friend to do it with!  She took a couple snaps of me! We couldn’t resist the fabulous snowpportunity…yes I wrote that on purpose.  Hickok_020510_009Hickok_020510_030Hickok_020510_027Hickok_020510_019Hickok_020510_014Hickok_020510_012Hickok_020510_011

365: Day 27

Hickok_012710_384

We are nearing the end of January and I have noticed a pattern of procrastination in my 365!!  It gets to be dark and I say” Oh my god! I haven’t done my photo of the day”  This project is interesting because I think it is telling me a lot about myself as well as my photography.  Why wait till its too late when I can plan ahead?  I am not being hard on myself for the fact that I procrastinate because I think everyone does that in their own way.  Plus I have 365 days to make it up to myself and if I do wait to long I have a lot of great stuff in my house I can play with!  When it comes to my business I try to always plan ahead, but in life maybe I am procrastinating the true vision and purpose to my life and my art.  Deep I know, but hey that is what this project is for!

365: Day 26 – Art

I photographed a awards ceremony for CPPA at Raven’s stadium.  This is the awesome bartender named Art.  He was sweet enough to let me take his portrait!

365: Day 25

Some of you may know that I love Trader Joes! This is my ode to Traders because I feel everyone should shop there. Where else can you pick up things you never thought you would buy like  indian cuisine  in a metallic packet, sparkling apple cider, and chocolate covered bing cherries.  All my clients get a fabulous trader joes treat when they come to my house for a meeting!  Thanks Traders for your random fabulous products and for keeping me happy!

365: Day 24

I love trees and silhouetted trees, but this one is probably my favorite. It is a metallic tree in the sculpture garden in DC!  It was really dark after a night of ice skating and we took a walk around the garden and this was the one that everyone loved!  I have a couple other creepy shots from that night, but this one stood out to me!

365: Day 23

Hickok_365_012310

I went to a photographers get together and just as I was leaving this is the shot I got.  It screams old hollywood to me and I LOVE IT!  I don’t encourage smoking, but if you have to do it you might as well look sexy like this.

365: Day 22

Another fabulous couple came to meet with me today!! Jeff and Carolyn’s wedding is coming up on September 18th, 2010!  So excited to be photographing your wedding!!

365: Day 21

Hickok_365_012110My Trainer’s roommate has this amazing dog who turned 17 the day I was there!  I wish I knew his name, but he was the cutest thing I have ever seen.  Old dogs have such a wisdom about them. It isn’t easy being deaf and blind, but he sure is hanging in there and looks adorable. Happy Birthday!!

365: Day 20

Hickok_365_012010I am really happy with this one because I rarely get my dad when he is in his natural state.  This is definitely a dad moment and I thank 365 for making me take a photo a day so that I could get it.
